Telehealth Genetic Counseling services
I am seeking information related to genetic counseling services provided by a genetic counselor via telehealth. CPT 96040 is the CPT to report. This is reported as a facility service on a UB04 to payers when provided to the patient on site at our hospital. I am trying to determine if this service should be billed on a 1500 or a UB04 when being provided as the Distant site. It may be payer specific since currently CMS does not recognize genetic counselors or genetic counseling services.
