Outside Reference Labs for Non-Patients
We use mainly two outside reference labs for MolDX lab tests since our hospital lab doesn't run these tests. Both companies gave us a nice matrix on when we should bill Medicare and when they will bill Medicare directly. However, one lab added a line to the matrix for non-pt labs. Regardless of the CPT codes, the outside lab will bill Medicare directly for non-pts. The other lab didn't mention it. What are other hospitals doing?
