Critical Care Facility Levels

Who is responsible in your organization for assigning the critical care facility level? Is it nursing, hospital coders, or other process such as automated process through your EHR based on a point system? I am looking to obtain information as to what is best practice in the industry for the capturing of the critical care facility level so appreciate any information you can provide. Thank you!

    We are in the process of moving that function back to the coders.  It was just a hit and miss if clinical/providers were doing anything with CC, so we are taking back that responsibility.
