charge for med injection

OP brings their injectable med to the OP behavior health clinic.  The RN gives the med in the OP behavior  health clinic. Can we charge for this?  They don't have an order for it. The patient has been staying in the Transitional Living Center.

  • We only administer meds if there is an order (and any patient-supplies meds go to pharmacy for verification first), but if there is we drop the administration code plus a token charge for the medication provided ($0.01).
I believe it happens most frequently for patients with insurance or copay assistance plans that require an OP pharmacy.
