Sedation during Intubation
If a patient is intubated in the ED, on a vent, and remains sedated with Diprivan drip prior to Inpatient admission status order, can we code/charge medication administration for the sedation (96365/96366)? Or, is sedation considered inherent to the intubation period, and/or vent management and/or ED/Critical Care E/M Level?

In my facility we charge for the admin fee for the Diprivan drip. If this is your initial infusion, yes you would add 96365 and then 96366 for any hours it ran up to the admission status order.
