Audit Tracking - 3rd party/external audits

Interested in hearing how others track audits received from 3rd party payors? We are looking to enhance our reporting on these types of audits and are interested in hearing what other systems are being used. Do you use your EHR? If Epic, can you provide specific info how you are doing this? Do you have homegrown Excel spreadsheets or an Access database? Or, do you use a 3rd party software for tracking?

  • I have used an Access database in the past but currently an Excel spreadsheet with standard responses in source tables and drop-downs set with data validation. I initially collected too much information but I didn't want to have to go back and update historical reviews. It is a relatively simple tracking system as we are a small hospital. I have calculations at the end of each month, and quarterly as well as annual summaries complete with pie charts.
