What is your process for organ procurement registration and billing once the patient has experienced cardiac death?

We create a separate outpatient encounter with the beginning time one minute after patient has been declared dead. This encounter is used for any services provided until organ procurement has finished.
We audit the two encounters to be sure that no charges are posted to the original encounter after the patient has been declared dead.
The first encounter is billed to the patient's insurance; the second to One Legacy.
