Interventional Radiology Charge Methodology

We are reviewing our internal processes for interventional radiology charging and coding. Currently, the IR department enters procedure and supply charges (individual charges for each procedure and supply) and coding reviews the procedure charges/codes. Coding is responsible for coding the diagnoses. We are interested in learning how and who is responsible for charging and coding at other children's facilities.

Has anyone implemented an IR level charge similar to OR level charges?

    We have designated radiology coders, who oversee IR in addition to the other radiology areas.

    **Epic specific workflow info: The procedures for IR are still charged via coderyte like our other radiology procedures, and are not level based. We did recently make changes to have the supplies running through optime with the operative notes, so the supply record is linked to a shell charge code like in the OR, with peoplesoft as the data source. This is significantly easier to maintain, though did take a bit of time for the department to get used to, and some work on the materials management side to get everything sorted on their end.
