Noridian error 32402 in relation to 97X revenue codes
We have several claims currently in error in DDE due to error code 32402, which the Noridian representative told our biller was due to us having a 97X revenue code associated to several radiology charges. She said this was something new starting 1/1/2026 but could offer nowhere to find any documentation on this new rule.
We are a CAH and utilize Method II billing and bill out our TC and PC (with a 26 modifier) components on radiology services. The HCPCS/CPT codes in question carry a PC/TC indicator of “1,” which allows the service to be split and billed separately for the professional and technical components per Medicare guidelines. Based on this indicator, PC/TC billing is appropriate. Some of the CPTs they are denying are 71271, 71250, 71260, 74177, 78264.
Is anyone else having this issue or has anyone seen documentation from Medicare saying profee billing is no longer allowed on radiology charges?
