Timeliness of Documentation

Does anyone have a practice they can share with me regarding how they ensure clinicians are completing documentation timely prior to vacation or leave? Do you ensure they have some administrative time? Or are they given a certain amount of grace based on patient encounters that occurred just a few days before vacation? We have residents, so sometimes there are delays in the resident getting the documentation to them timely so they have time to complete it ahead of a vacation. I'd just like to know if you have certain rules or strategies in place for this.

Additionally, if you don't mind sharing, how much time does your policy/practice allow for outpatient documentation to be completed?

Thanks!
