Billing for Planning MRI's

I am new to my role so please bear with me...

Our health system has been billing for planning MRI's prior to sterotactic brain procedures using CPT Code 76498 which is an unlisted code. They are seeing many denials for this code. My question is, can you even bill for the planning MRI or is it included in the stereotactic procedures? and if you can bill for it, does anyone have any successful methods for overturning the denials?
